Autograph album of Frank Peyton Clark [manuscript], 1858-1860.

The album contains signatures of his fellow classmates particularly brothers in Epsilon Alpha, and professors including Gessner Harrison, Francis H. Smith, and George Baillard. Signatures of family and friends are towards the rear of the volume. A pencil sketch of an unidentified student is tipped in opposite the page containing the autograph of Wilson Miles Cary. In the rear of the volume is a page containing a pasted on clipped note [1826] reading "The Society met on Monday 6th Nov when the President elect delivered an appropriate address." On the same page is a note [1858-1859?] reading "Edgar A. Poe's autograph cut out of the minute book of the Jefferson Society of the Univ. of Va." At some time since then the signature of Poe was clipped from the clipped note.
